Robot Landing

I’m trying to imagine sci-fi scenarios with everyday items I have at home.  This is  a computer heat sink from a dead desktop, in front of textured wrapping paper & on top of wrapping material.

Does this seem intriguing at all – make you wonder if it’s of this world?   Thoughts on how to shoot and/or process better?  Thank you.

Not much to add, the light is gorgeous and the composition enhances the story. This brought back so many memories from my childhood, I used to build computers as a hobby when I was around 12~15 years old.

Thanks so much, Federico, Dahlia, Diane!  I will reduce the vignette.   I’m also trying to think about how to introduce a sense of motion.

I never built computers like you, Federico, but I have taken apart a number of broken ones to see what’s inside!

For adding motion how about connecting some clear fishing line to it and using a remote or self timer and a slight pendulum swing to it , this will give you what you want and the clear line will not show up.

Hi Ann.  Cool idea!  I like the photo processed pretty much as is including the vignette.  I tried cropping it tight in the lower right corner but that removed a lot of the negative space.  As is It looks real nice on good sized screen.

Very cool composition, it draws you in and makes you want to learn more about the strange object in the right corner. I agree with Dahlia and others, the vignette is kinda overpowering.

Nicely imaginative, Anne . I would extend the tabletop across to the left, so that it is a uniform surface right across. Easily achievable using the clone tool, for instance.

Maybe you won’t like the color, but at least there is “motion blur” and the gismo is enlarged a bit.

ooh, very interesting @rambler  – I usually don’t like extreme uses of colour, but it really works on this subject matter.
