Textures are everywhere, buildings, landscapes, close-ups of most subjects… make textures the subject of your shot!
Rough, smooth, soft, spikey ….. etc.!

Fabulous Graham!! It reminds me of an anemone in a reef.

    • #422492

      Graham Hart
      Participant

Alas, it isn’t natural colour guys. Its actually a succulent ground cover plant which I edited to look like an underwater sea anemone. The original shot had great shapes and textures which is what initially attracted me to the subject but it lacked punchย  so I did a little editing and came up with the blue theme which added to the depth of the image.

I googled the plant and I think its some sort of Pachyveria/Pachyphytum plant. here’s the original shot taken with a mobile phone.

John’s broken abandoned textile mill reminded me of our recent visit to Ellis Island in New York Harbor. We took the Hard Hat Tour of untouched buildingsย  (the hospital, infectious disease wards, staff living quarters) Millions of immigrants were processed through Ellis Island and it is all quite a story. Contrary to what I thought, these future citizens were given the best of care.ย  This room took my breath away. Perhaps you can imagine what it was.

Yesterday I had permission to go through acres of puckerbrush covering upย  old vehicles. This was once a Model A or T Ford; now it’s a rusted, textured sculpture hidden by cockleburrs and any weed imagineable. There is still something eye catching about it, I think.
