With a little help from my friend

This is from the Gran Marathon in Mazatlan, MX. 10,000 runners.  What motivates a blind guy to run a marathon with a little help from his friend? They are all wet from running under a water shower rigged over the route because it’s a little warm here. The sky was totally blown out so I tried replacing the sky.  What do you think? 1/250, f4.5, iso 160, 42mm.

The sky execution works technically Lenny. My choice might have been for a more overcast sky that was a little more bluish to match the photo’s bluish colour cast. The other option might be to warm up the photo to convey the heat.

I’ve run some and I understand the blind guy wanting to do it. Nothing makes you feel better and there’s also that sense of accomplishment. His friend joining him is a tribute to what’s best in all of us. Love the image and the story.

I like the sky and background. I would be upping the exposure on the subjects slightly (great way to use the new Lightroom subject mask FYI).

Rob, yes I love the second to the latest upgrade to LR.  My old laptop will not process the newest upgrade which I am anxious to try.  I am having a new computer built which in the real world would take a week or two but her in Mexico I am on week 7 and still in a holding pattern.

Yeah, the upgrades lately to LR are next level. If you’re into post, then it’s well worth upgrading your computer, even if it takes a little time. 🙂

Fredrico, thanks for your comment!  I have shot the Mazatlan marathon for over 10 years and really enjoy showing the wheel chair racers plus the crippled and blind.  An interesting story.  Lots of spray and prey because of the crowds.  Going again this December.

The sky works great in the photo Lenny. I think it could be slightly cooler to match the atmosphere in the foreground 🙂
