Haha – this is how we iterate the site @kagey1 and @nikon-nut
In fact, several pieces of functionality are named after @camerasinger and @dchester1001 – which started in threads much like this one. 😉

Thanks guys. Perhaps I shouldn’t have mentioned the mood I was going for as it clearly is open to interpretation. The main thing is is it a good photo, so am happy with the response to that. And as @kagey1 suggests, I’ll leave it up to the individual to interpret it as he/she wants.
As for the panda effect on the right eye, yes, that irritates…[Read more] -

I agree with @kagey1 – too much black and it’s taking away from the brilliant colors.
Hope you don’t mind but I’ve taken the liberty of making a couple of adjustments – cropping as per above comments, applying grad filters to lighten the foreground and then playing with the orange color of the sky. Not sure if this helps, but thought I’d give…[Read more]

Sorry @kagey1, this one’s not working for me. It’s just all a bit “muddy”, and I am really distracted by the tilted pillar.

I think the height of the waterfall is lost slightly, possibly due to the water being blurred but perhaps from the angle…
Saying that I think you might of fallen into the waterfall trying to get a more extreme angle!
Love the contrast in colours and you broke a rule of composition really effectively, I am guessing that works because the…[Read more]

I prefer this shot to the other one, much better viewpoint, but like @kagey1, I’m not sure about the reddish /sepia tint……I’d guess the original shot is more green,….does that not work at all?

I’d agree with @kagey1 on this. Also, perhaps you could darken the background a touch and lighten the girl, not too much, but enough to bring her up as a secondary subject more without distracting from the sketch? So, in effect, you’d have three tonal layers – from bright at the front through to dark at the back, if you see what I mean.

@kagey1 seems to have mentioned a few of the things I would try. I still think the crop would help (remove the right and top to get the sky out). Perhaps slightly desaturate the green and blue and yellows?

Would agree with @kagey1 – widen the crop behind here slightly. Other than that, a fine shot.

Thank you @kagey1
I just did a quick image search for “seattle gum wall” and I now think perhaps I should give myself a little more credit for this one.

I think you have misunderstood what I meant by no chimping… I looked through the view finder but not at the lcd like the days of film! not that I sprayed and prayed.
It is fine not to like, I am agreeing with the too grey comments which is what I tried to asked in a previous reply which was deleted for some reason… I want to know what can…[Read more]

I’m inclined to agree with @kagey1, the original photograph is breathtaking in its simplicity. The image that you invited comment on suffers from those paint splatters. Perhaps they were meant to look like a flock of birds, if so, it doesn’t really work, there’s just too much of it. I would suggest confining the ‘splatter’ detail to a smaller…[Read more]

I’ll echo @kagey1 here. I do think this photo can be rescued with some strategic cropping. What I;m not sure about is that there seems to be a fair amount of of barrel distortion in this image, which is not good when photographing things with straight lines…
On a positive note, I like the colour and I think the PP technique used works well here.

@kagey1 I think your initial shot was perfect, it brings out the old age of the trucks much much more than the black and white. This is just my personal opinion, else this is a wonderful composition.
