Hi!I am a photography student from greece and i use a nikon d5100 with a 55-200 lens .the speed was at least 1/4000 in this photo .
Two white horses grazing in the sunset .
This was not a set up shot , but there were 2 horses in the paddock, after i finished my work and the sun was in the perfect spot. The light was so strong reflecting that everything became black around them. I liked the position of the little horse.

I like this shot as is. My only critique may be to convert to b&w since it is very close to b&w. The shot could have been improved by getting just a bit more of the rear horse head above the front one but you have to take some shots as they are.

Very solid shot. I am at a loss as to what I would improve. It would be nice to see the whole eye of the horse, but hell, I am stretching.

I think the necessary had been said. Differently put: if the horse at the back was just 6 inches further to the right, it would have been perfect (his butt would then have been hidden too)! 😉

Personally, I like the fact that it is not a B&W conversion – at first glance it looks that way then the eye starts to pick out subtle shades to contradict than initial assumption.

I would consider cropping in from the left, to the point where the rear of the read horse meets the front horse. I don’t think this adds significantly to the image and so losing it only strengthens what remains. Very subjective, however.

You don’t give us any indication of your processing, but – suitable software permitting – what I would do is to try and bring out a little more detail around the eye of the rear horse, as it is eyes that the viewer first tends to locate in an image. That done, I think you would have a really good and interesting image.
