Taken on impulse when I saw the way the sun lit up my violin.

Do you like? I know it’s taken at a slightly odd angle.

I like this but I think it would have more impact if more of it were in focus. I am assuming that is the bow across your strings. I think it would show better if that bridge were in focus instead of the short area of the strings and the bow strings.

            I was afraid of that…
I think you are correct. I’m still not throwing it away, but a little more though would have gone a long way.

It’s a fine idea but I’m afraid you’re right about the little more thought. Strings and bow form strong leading lines that take your eye straight to the bridge. The out of focus bridge! The texture on the end go the fingerboard is also a little strange.
Lastly, you need to thnk about background. The light area top left is sufficiently out of focus to be unidentifiable, but it is still bright and draws the eye. This could be fixed in processing, sadly the focus cannot.

                Hello, thanks for sharing,

This photo, instrument lost its soul: the wood color, a nice variety shades of brown.

                All the best.

I like the b&w conversion, but do think that the bow is too intrusive—it cuts right across the image and I wonder if the picture would be better without it at all? I have a friend who does some pretty amazing violin photographs, (he happens to be a professional violinist and owns a Stradivarius) and his website may be worth having a look at: http://www.endresphotos.com/-/endresphotos/default.asp. (Hope it is not against the rules to put in links, sorry if it is.)
