The photo posting was a bit thin on the ground this week. Too much talking. Its all been fascinating but I like looking at photos as well. I know I can’t do 2 things at once (because of my handicap – I’m a bloke) but what about the rest of you.
Still, there’s always quality, even if there isn’t the quantity.
I know we go on about rules a bit; about using and abusing, but Susan @susandavid sort of summed it up for me this week with her beautifully symmetrical shot illustrating that there is an almost instinctive urge to photograph such structures in in this way. It just seems ‘right’. We can argue the point about balance and lines and thirds and visual mass until we are blue in the face but some days the simple approach is the best.
Simply beautiful, Susan.

A beautiful shot, well done Susan.
Call me dim, but the last couple of photos of the week were ones that weren’t posted on the actual POTW thread, that I could see anyway.
Do you assess all photos added throughout the week that fall under the POTW topic, even if posted elsewhere?
I’m intrigued, and I like to ask questions ๐

Apologies Julia @minidiva
My first choice is to find a shot in the Challenge but I’m a bit of an addict when it comes to looking at photos and if something grabs my attention during my browsing through the other forums it may over-ride my original selection.
POTW is really aimed at finding the best in photography among our members and that doesn’t necessarily mean the ‘best’ photo. Contributions through a single photo may be in style, concept, usage, aethetic, historical, community, social or personal. Composition technical exellence is fine but we all know photography is more than that. Its the 3 year old taking his first shots, or a dedicated professional recording the history of his community or the proud parent taking a photo of their daughter at graduation or a man with salt in his blood photographing the sea or the first photo taken through a brand new macro lens. We can all be proud of the photos we take for different reasons. My task each week is to find an example of one that we can learn from and feel part of that pride. Most weeks I’d like to pick them all. -
