Many professinal photographers I know are well known for their particular skills at photographing a particular subject. Yet, often enough, that which they are famous for, isn’t always what they enjoy photographing most. They have a ‘secret’ life. Landscapers who love photographing still life, portrait photographers who spend their spare time by the sea with their camera, forensic photographers who photograph pets.
My favourite subject is fruit. I love its form and texture and Iove playing with light on is surface. I enjoy the simplicity of it all. A single pear or cherry, photographed like its never been photographed before. Create a work of art from a banana or kiwi fruit.Tell us about your favourite subject and give us your best shot.

As much as I want to break out of sports and broaden my horizons … sports is where it’s at. I’ve had a few landscape style pictures that I’m proud of and like to show off. I’ve not managed to print and hang any of them … but that’s because I’m lazy! But it’s when I’m reviewing my pictures from a recent sporting event and exclaiming, “oh wow”, at my recent shots when I realize where I’m really having fun. Sometimes it’s the action I caught, sometimes it’s an expression, sometimes it’s a just a moment. Then … after I’m thrilled at what I managed to do … I get to share my stuff with the other kids’ parents. Their sincere appreciation and joy is awesome. Knowing that I captured a shot that they can treasure for the rest of their lives … it’s really cool.

I actually have two favourite (that’s for you @admin) subjects. Everything about people; although not posed or planned sessions.

And macro photography probably because it lies so closely to what I do with my pastels. When I upgraded my canon and I could no longer use my EF-S lenses the one I missed the most was my 60mm macro…so the second lens I got was the 100mm macro. Now I’m happy.

I don’t know if I have a favorite subject yet. I think I’m still trying to figure out what I like best

I take a lot of macro nature, I do not think I am particularly good, but I like the mathematical perfection of the pattern and the cosmos scene in a 5mm section. But, that’s not where I find pride nor solace. These five shots are my personal favourites. Each a different subject yet somehow all the same. If I am to be painfully honest, not one of them have to do with the actual photo. Each is about the disconnection, the loss of humanity, the hollow story that will never be complete, the feeling that I am exactly like this photo and you are not seeing through my eyes but directly into them and nothing can hide the person who is wholly absent from these images yet filled in each frame.
Sorry Tom, for having an assbackwards way of answering your question.
