Thanks for your comments guys. I used a 7d on a tripod and took a variety of shots with different exposures as the sun died. The sun went down way to the left of the jetty and I got lucky as those fading rays lit the sky. The shot I chose looked washed out in the sky area but the RAW file had plenty of detail there to be brought out, Settings were: ISO 100, FL35mm, 5secs at f22, 24-105 – 105mm

Interesting variations @annasoffia … it’s true that different times of day can create very different moods. I have such a hard time taking good photos in the bright glare of mid day. Not many of them turn out as well as I hope…but sometimes …. 🙂 I like the morning light best.

when you hit “reply” and the empty box pops up… click on the last icon you see at the top of the blank box…that will bring up the download options…and you can find an image on your computer to upload directly into the post. try that. 🙂 -

@mikell …Beauty is all around us if we just take the time to look. Too often I see people walking around with their heads down and they are missing the beauty that surrounds them.
While Location is a big factor in being able to take eye catching images, they can be found in the smallest or largest of locations including your own back yard. I have taken many shots in my own back yard and a couple have won competitions.
I’m not denying that Australia has some fantastic scenery but, I guess it’s a case of the other mans grass always being greener. Personally I want to get to Canada or the Greek Islands or maybe …….. sigh! ;~)

@anchye…. It may surprise you to know that I took this shot from a crevice in a rock platform that I discovered while looking for something to shoot. The crevice was no more than six(6) foot – 2 meters – deep and filled with mosquitos the size of stealth bombers. The things we do for the sake of our art …LOL ;~)
