Hi Holly, this is actually a paved mall running through Chinatown here in Adelaide. It was a weekend so he may have been coming or going to the Central Market. It’s next to Chinatown and is a huge people magnet here on weekends. On his left are mainly Chinese restaurants and take-aways. Probably the delicious smells attracted his attention πŸ™‚

Really nice colour and texture. I’d be putting this one in the ‘Backgrounds’ folder as it looks like something which could be used in a studio portrait shot or perhaps in an opacity/overlay situation?

Interesting comparing the two shots Holly. The first is my favourite because of the stronger implied movement and the framing.

Great pic David! The scale is wonderfully captured but what I especially like is the layers of colour. The solo stance of the person is perfect. Any trees or other vertical items would have lessened the visual impact I think.

(unsolicited cc: which is why I’d heal that one on the edge out).

I like this one because of the transition in the water’s surface from the silvery ripple wakes to the purple sheen at the top. Lovely pic.

I agree with all the comments Pat. This is a wall hanger for sure. Your B&W image framing work well to up the interest in this shot too. I love the way you have made the shadow as strong an element as the object that is casting it. I can’t really tell but it looks like the light fitting has no globe in it which adds to the story I think. A light, illuminated by another light out of shot, becomes the central character. Brilliant!

Been turning to photography and time outside instead of turning to the tv/phone. I find shooting to be very grounding. Hope everyone out there is good and finding ways to “shut it off” when needed.

When everyone else is self-isolating at least us fotogs can keep busy indoors or outside in the yard. Could be a surge in macro shots coming as distance becomes harder to achieve?
