I like this and I really like the close cropping. There is nothing in the frame that should not be.

Agreeing with @nikon-nut. If I really want to be nitpicking I’d say remove the lighter straight lines in the BG but good reflection of the spirit of the moment, good use of lighting.

Thanks @nikon-nut & @tobiepsg!
It was a good day despite a steady rain – can confirm the efficacy of the weather sealing for the 5DII & 24-105 f/4 IS.

This is Notting Hill? Nice tight crop conveys the movement and mood of the dancers perfectly. Great rich color.

Thanks @caimi!
Nottinghill used to have a large ‘Afro-Caribbean’ presence, not so much these days but the neighborhood still hosts Europe’s largest street party with floats and costumes like Mardi-Gras or Brazil’s Carnival.
I tried to update the Flickr file with an updated version but I fear I’ve broken the link again.

Allows Edits? YesThe colors really stand out, some people may think less shadow on his face would bring out his features but I think it adds an air of mystery. In contrast her face is kissed by the light and open. I like the emotions conveyed by the dancers. He shows his desire for her and she seems to bask in the adoration. I like the dark background, nothing to distract from the dancers.

Thanks @candida-tate!
I was thinking that the woman is the ‘lead’ and the man is ‘supporting’.
The black area behind them is a stack of speakers but the lines of their structure didn’t really ‘read’ so I burned them way down – thanks to @tobiepsg for guiding my hand there.

Your revised pic is perfect @aarongeis – nothing to pull the attention away from or spoil the two main characters. Two thumbs up!

Thanks guys!
@micheal-lloyd, the previous versions just showed the diagonal lines of the speaker towers behind.
Here’s the SOOC file.
Sometimes at events I like to shoot from the hip, literally, with a wide perspective and make cropping decisions in post.
