Allows Edits? NoThank you for your helpful comment. Sadly, London is 200 miles from home, I was only there from Friday lunchtime to Sunday lunchtime. It was my first visit there in 20 years and was an expensive weekend approved lovingly by my long suffering wife but not one I’m likely to undertake again. My next foray will be nearer home.

Allows Edits? NoThanks for your comment, John. I can’t answer directly. The area is served by the City of London Police who have unique rights and who, I believe take a dim view of photographers anyway. One student a few years ago was arrested and put in a cell as a suspected terrorist because she was taking photos of the buildings. I took this shot and similar shots handheld, quickly and early on a weekend. I did however photograph the area at night across the Thames.

Allows Edits? NoI revisited this place this week for the Liverpool River of Light festival – lots of colour to see in the various buildings and installations but, while there, I had another go at the Canning Dock. I stuck with colour because it was night rather than blue hour and there was lots of colour to see.

Allows Edits? NoOn the right hand side of the wall there seems to be a near vertical shadow area. Is it rocks. The area adds to the depth of field for me. Nice shot. Lovely atmosphere.

Allows Edits? NoThank you too, Dahlia. It’s starting to look unanimous in favour of the black and white. A lesson for me to bear in mind in future.

Allows Edits? NoThank, Kent. Of course I did read the Photzy eBook which helped me to see the monochrome possibility.

Some of the shots did look better in colour though – such a golden hour one and a sunset one.Gerald MurphyParticipant- Allows Edits: No

Allows Edits? NoThanks for your comment, Beth. I may be getting confused. I believe that Clarkson owns a P-51 aircraft but drove a P50 car through central London – 200 miles from Media City, Salford – in 2007 – long before Media City existed.
As for the lights being on, the clocks going back an hour from summertime is great for photography in that people are still at work when it goes dark. I think that this scene worked quite well in colour too so I attach a photo to show.
