@rambler Thanks Frank. It is a learning experience. Since I was trying to shoot environmental I was tilting the lens and then looking for the sweet spot in real time. That was tough. Add to that manual focus and exposure. (I just turned on auto ISO after a few shots). Even when I shot film I did not not have a manual lens so I felt overwhelmed.…[Read more]

ooh, very interesting @rambler – I usually don’t like extreme uses of colour, but it really works on this subject matter.

Our guide told us for women working in the fields, it was to avoid sunburn, for women in general it was to keep skin light in a culture that valued lighter skin; and in cities to not breath pollution. In big cities somet…[Read more]

Thanks for your edits & suggestions, you’ve given me a lot to think about & new skills to look into. Highly motivating! One question for Robert. I was wanting to “add space” on the left to move the diving seal to a better point. What software & techniques do I need to do that? Unfortunately, I took this several…[Read more]

Concerning the blowout in at the top. I went back to the RAW file and did some experimenting and I just couldn’t get it to look right. The photo is just over exposed up there.
With that said. Would an ND filter have made a difference?
Here are the conditions:
A fairly bright sunny day up top.…[Read more]

Thanks for this latest feedback, Erik, Frank & Dahlia. Have had a go at making the cross being seen in a fairly strong light and it took some work even though Affinity Photo has a very good Live Lighting Filter. I can make it stronger than this quite easily, but have tried not to go too overboard. What do you think now? @rambler @erik-fransma…[Read more]

My photo was taken last summer, 2 days after a thunder storm. Minnehaha Creek is a small creek that runs through Minneapolis. This summer we’ve had a terrible drought. This is what it looked like last Sunday,

Got home from holiday and finally got around to editing further. The part up-top still needs to have a tidy of the window shadows, but I think, thanks to your ideas that it is looking good. Comments/suggestions?
